Soliloquies

“Who are you?” Frederick asks. “Think of me as everything. I am you. I am the world you live in. I am the sky you look up at. I am the stars, the galaxies, the nebulas that surround your very existence. I am the soil beneath your feet, and I am the worm digging through the soil.” The being answered. “Are you god?” asked Frederick. “You can call me god. In truth, it doesn’t matter what you call me. To some I am God, to others I am the universe. Whatever name you give me is a name I am willing to take.” Frederick was puzzled by the formless creature. But in front of Frederick was a being that radiated love, and for the first time in a long time, Frederick was at peace. Waves of serenity were crashing into him. So much so that he didn’t even give the being in front of him a name. He was enjoying the tranquility that had been stolen from him by the cruel world around him. “I can tell that you have been under a lot of stress, Frederick. Tell me, what’s on your mind.” “The world around me hates me. I have nobody who loves me. My karmic fate is one of misery and stagnation.” “And why do you say that?” the being said. “I have nothing but misery in my head. There is nothing I can do to stop the pain that is so ever increasing. What am I going to do?” “You need to let go. You need to learn how to live, Frederick. You are not living.” “How do I live?” “You live by letting go.” “But how do I let go?” “...” The being stood quiet. He had the answer, but for some peculiar reason, the being would not tell him. “This is something that you must figure out on your own. Many people don’t figure it out for a majority of their life. Many don’t figure it out at all. But I know that you will, Frederick, for your karmic fate is not one of misery and stagnation, but one of great courage.” The being told Frederick.
